The African Circular Economy Network and the ACEN Foundation participated in various aspects of the just ended WCEF 2024, held in Brussels, Belgium. The two organisations represented and presented the African perspective and progress in the transition to the circular economy. ACEN will especially support the continuation of the Global South Roundtable, organised by ICCE.
- Katharina Gihring, presented on the JUST2CE project during an engagement on April 17, 2024 with policymakers and ambassadors which focused on the just transition.
- Circular Food Systems for Rwanda (CIRF) supports small and medium-sized enterprises to adopt circular business models or improve upon existing practices. ACEN is managing a network of technical assistance providers to implement tailored support with the selected SMEs. Alongside this work, the program aims to establish an enabling policy environment to drive forward systemic transformation of the food value chain towards greater circularity in Rwanda. IAt n this edition of the World Circular Economy Forum, Chris Whyte (ACEN Director) and Peter Desmond (ACEN Co-Founder ) attended as ACEN representatives for the CIRF project.
- Josefine Koehler joined a panel session organised by the Chatham House, UNIDO and Trinomics to share insights of ACENF’s experience on designing circular economy roadmaps with African countries: Ghana, Nigeria, and Rwanda.
