The Kingdom of the Netherlands hosted an economic mission to South Africa from 16 to 20 October 2023 taking place in Cape Town and Pretoria with multiple tracks. The African Circular Economy Network (ACEN) provided support to the mission in the form of tailor-made business matchmaking services for the Circular Waste Management track. ACEN was supported by Circular South Africa (CSA) and TheKnowledgeCollab (TKC).
The primary objective of the matchmaking component of the mission was to connect participating Dutch companies and organisations to relevant South African companies and organisations. The aim being to discover synergies for future collaboration, cooperation, exchange of knowledge, and potential business partnerships to enhance trade relations between South Africa and the Netherlands. In total 64 matchmaking meetings were set up between different organisations also allowing unplanned meetings between organisations that took part in-person. The satisfaction from the Dutch and South African organisations were very high and ongoing discussions between organisations are held.
