The Kingdom of the Netherlands hosted an economic mission to South Africa from 16 to 20 October 2023 taking place in Cape Town and Pretoria with multiple tracks.

World Circular Economy Forum 2023 (WCEF2023)
ACEN made substantial contributions to WCEF2023 through diverse initiatives and engagements. Firstly, showcasing regenerative agricultural practices by African subsistence farmers.
World Circular Economy Forum 2022 (WCEF2022)
In 2022, WCEF shifted its focus to Africa, for the first time since its inception in 2017. Held in Kigali, Rwanda, known as the green hub of the continent, WCEF2022 brought together 4,167 attendees from 149 countries.

Lagos Circular Economy Hotspots 2023
The ACEN Nigerian Chapter in collaboration with the Lagos State Government organised the first ever African Hotspot event from 26th to 27th of July 2023 at the Lagos Continental Hotel Victoria Island.
Trainings and Masterclasses
The ACEN team has conducted multiple trainings and masterclasses for different organisations focusing on different sectors such as food systems and cross-cutting such as embedding circularity in organisations etc.
CSA – Circular Economy Platform for South Africa
ACEN conducted an exploratory study on the feasibility of a South African circular economy platform. In 2021, ACEN engaged with key circular economy role players who provide insights into local needs, interests, and access to knowledge and financial resources.
Circular Food Systems for Rwanda (CIRF)
A project, funded by the IKEA Foundation, to catalyse food systems transformation in Rwanda through circularity, presents an opportunity to translate global ambitions of a circular economy on food systems into real outcomes.
