Exploring the ‘Materials as a Service’ (MaaS) model, ACEN and partners envision a new pathway for global resource trade that enables resource-rich countries, especially in Africa, to retain ownership and derive sustainable income through usufruct-based mineral rentals to advance global justice within a circular economy.
South African Circular Economy Hotspot 2024
ACEN conducted an exploratory study on the feasibility of a South African circular economy platform. In 2021, ACEN engaged with key circular economy role players who provide insights into local needs, interests, and access to knowledge and financial resources.
Dutch Trade Mission 2023

World Circular Economy Forum 2023 (WCEF2023)

World Circular Economy Forum 2022 (WCEF2022)
In 2022, WCEF shifted its focus to Africa, for the first time since its inception in 2017. Held in Kigali, Rwanda, known as the green hub of the continent, WCEF2022 brought together 4,167 attendees from 149 countries.
Lagos Circular Economy Hotspots 2023
The ACEN Nigerian Chapter in collaboration with the Lagos State Government organised the first ever African Hotspot event from 26th to 27th of July 2023 at the Lagos Continental Hotel Victoria Island.
